Hope House was established to provide a home for children of families living in tribal areas in the mountains in northern Chiang Mai, Thailand. These children were at risk of being sold for sex trafficking but have been given the opportunity to live at Hope House and attend public schools. Your purchases and/or financial support can make a dramatic difference in the lives of these kids!

Until now, Hope House has been renting their facilities. An opportunity has presented itself that will allow Hope House to purchase a permanent facility. A place where they can be more self-sufficient and a place where the children will be able to see grass, raise chickens, and engage with nearby farmers. In October, the girls moved to the new facility. The boys, however, must remain 30 minutes away in the rented facility until a boys’ dormitory can be built. That’s where we have an opportunity to help.

There are multiple ways to support this effort. Minda is currently offering selected pashminas at $15 each. Forty percent of every pashmina purchase will go toward the funding of the dormitory. We also have our Hope Tree again during the holiday season. A donation of $10 to buy an ornament will go toward the purchase of bricks for the boys' dormitory. Our goal is to fund 4,000 bricks. We all know that shopping locally is good for local merchants and the local economy, but did you know that when you shop at Minda’s Boutique you are helping individuals around the world? Recent campaigns to help others include:

Minda’s Giving Collection: This is Minda’s most recent giving initiative. 15% of your purchase of these earrings will be sent to Hope House which assists at-risk children in Northern Thailand that are exploited and potentially lured into sex trafficking.

Shawls for Shelter: proceeds from the sale of scarves and shawls during the 2013 holiday season were used to purchase corrugated metal roofing material for Filipino families needing shelter after Typhoon Haiyan.

Shawls for Flip-Flops: 2,500 pairs of flip-flops were provided to children living near the garbage dumps outside of the city of Manila, funded by scarf purchases during the 2014 holiday season.

Shawls for Soles: 600 pairs of sneakers were provided to the same population of children living near the garbage dumps also funded by the sale scarves and shawls during the 2015 holiday season.

Learning Centers: Established three learning centers for tribal children in the mountains of South Cotabato in the Philippines. Mobilized resources, such as school supplies, from her American friends. These learning centers cater to pre-school children, ages three to five. By attending these centers, the children get a head start and are better prepared to go into the public school system.

We have also given locally: Shelter for Help in Emergency (portions of pashmina sales), and merchandise donations yearly to fundraisers for organizations such as the arts, schools, and animal rescue groups.
